The move from Rochester to Charlotte

I have changed states 3 times in my life. The first I don't remember because I was 4 years old when my parents moved from Charlotte, NC to Rochester, NY. I lived in Rochester and that was all I knew for almost 30 years. I made the decision to move back to Charlotte after some family changes and loss. I feel it was the best decision I could have made. I was a single mom with 3 small children and in school. To say that I had culture shock is an understatement. So much so that I can tell you that I arrived in Charlotte on May 21, 1997 at 2:00 pm.

I lived and learned much with the help of family and friends. It didn't' take long to meet people or acclimate myself to southern culture. I lived in Charlotte for 21 years with my children. The transition was difficult at first but got easier with time. I had to assist my children with learning a new way of life which had an added difficulty for me because I always had to present the transition as much easier than it was. I also had to think about them rather than just myself. This would make my next transition that much more difficult.
